Born n’ raised in the rolling hills of North Carolina, Kimberlyn Pickens honors old-time trades, creative exploration, and strengthening the connection between yourself & the world around you. Musing life through art, Earthly Trades, connection, and movement.
“Jack of all trades, a master at none, but often times better than a master of one.”
THE ARTIST
Through my artistry, I embrace the journey as an ever blooming student of life. Honoring old trades, cultivating higher connection to nature, within ourselves and our communities.
Reaching into my Lumbee Indian roots, cherishing the 1o Indian Commandments. Using art and movement to deepen connection.
In the midst of chaotic and complex energy circulating in our world, I value musing life and inspiring others through color, positivity, and playfulness.
As I step on the path to earn my 200 HR yoga teachers license, I honor all the ones that have come before me. Who devoted their mind, body, and soul into the history and movement of yoga. Intentionally choosing to be a guide in spreading the medicine of mindfulness and movement outward to others. Creating safe containers for all who enter to rekindle friendships with peace, harmony, balance and unity. ✤
Mindful. Medicinal. Movement.
Get to know the acrobat
Stretching from the WNC Appalachia, to the country side of Thailand, and out yonder to the south of Spain. Honoring the ability to expand my education while traveling abroad by stepping into different cultures and styles of teaching. Allowing me to gain well rounded perspectives of different ways of movement and mindful practices.
Driven by the curiosity of strengthening the mind, body and soul. Kimberlyn continues to dive head first exploring diverse types of acrobatic movement and flow arts. With a foundation in gymnastics and modern dance in her early years, she continues discovering new mindful movement practices. Leaning into what calls to the mind, body and spirit. Movement practices include, but not limited to, aerial silks/teardrop, improv ecstatic dance, contact improv dance, fire flow dance, pole flow and hoop flow dance.
Movement is potent medicine for the mind, body and soul. Each year I grow older, the medicine of movement continues to cultivate a deeper sense of peace and sanctuary within me. Creating allowance for freedom of expression. Embracing your authentic self and centering me into the present moment. Deepening self embodiment, connection, and inner growth. Learning how to expand connection with others without the need of words. Discovering self discipline, mindfulness and meditation through it all.
